Hide and Seek

She was good! Very good!! An expert “hider’… with ‘seeking’ skills wanting, I supposed. Or did she want? Or not want? Maybe hiding was safer?
I count to ten… ready or not! She’s moved only slightly but it takes me a moment. Ahh! – I see you!
Her favourite spot was the underside of the biggest leaf on my lemon tree… and occasionally the top of the leaf where she would seem to bask and soak in the sunlight at the end of the day, cooled by the wind.
I saw her for several days that week in the sun… so, I decided on her simple name.
Katy.
Then, as if changed by the gifting of a human moniker, she hid so well that next time we played I wasn’t able to find her. I never again saw her in the lemon tree…
