A Mysterious South American Bird
Stella Maris Schulte
This happened to me last week. I live in South America, a long way away from Taronga Zoo.
I was near the coast of Rio de la Plata, about to join my friends for a tennis match.
It was a beautiful morning, neither cold nor hot. The weather in Argentina is quite similar to Sydney, and the seasons match too. So it was a fine early autumn morning, which smelled of damp grass and falling leaves.
All of a sudden I saw a strange looking bird. Tall, majestic, it stood still, as if in deep thought. I was mesmerised! I stood still too, for fear that it would go away. But there it remained, watching something, or waiting for something...
I went quietly to the bench where I had left my bag, eager to get hold of my cell phone and take a picture. Luckily I was able to walk quite near it and take one! Amazing!
I still don't know what kind of bird it was, perhaps you can find out!!! And if you do... please let me know?
