Tree of Snails

Although there are many great observations made in my field notebook, my favourite would have to be from June 5, 2021. On this day, I went for a walk around Guelph and ended up at the Dairy Bush since it’s so close to my apartment building.

I saw the most wildlife on this walk, including some squirrels (both on trees and on the ground), some spiders on the trees, a few robins flying around, and I saw a small, dead tree full of snails. The snails were on the branches and there were so many of them, probably around 20 at the least. I had never seen anything like it before – usually I only see a few snails on the ground, so it was very cool to see them all on the small tree. I was also able to closely observe squirrels running up and down the trees.
