Walking in the Park
Carrie Bennett
Walking in the park just before dark
I wandered through the trees
when little eyes looked at me
through the leaves I felt the sense
that something wonderful was waiting for me
searching this beautiful beast of a tree
a hollow came in view
inside was a possum curled up but looking to see
who had disturbed it's slumber, just me
we stared at each other, exchanged a moment
and both realised we were safe and happy to just be.
Author Bio: I am a Forestry Science and Management student at Southern Cross University. I love to walk in the park and soak up nature and living in the city there are plenty of different parks to choose from. As a mature age student I find there is a lot of time now, after raising children, to focus on loving and caring for the environment and teaching or helping others to find appreciation and enjoyment in the environment.
